1. General information
This subject constitutes an interesting intersection between the processes and problems on which social work group work acts and the concepts, methods, theories with which its application is carried out and the contributions and theoretical-practical reflections made by other disciplines.}
These approaches are aligned with objective 7, goal 4, of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations:
"ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to promote sustainable development, including through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and the contribution of culture to sustainable development".
2. Learning results
The student, in order to pass this subejct, must demonstrate that he/she is capable of
1. analyze the different conceptions of Social Work with groups and of using objectives to achieve goals.
2. learn to program and develop group activities, as well as to train group members for intervention and problem solving.
3. acquire knowledge to manage a group, to plan the work with the group in order to favor a predisposition of its members towards coordinated, team work and to help them make decisions.
4. elaborate examples of group activities differentiating group dynamics from therapy, substantiating the difference.
5. plan group activities in different contexts after the analysis of reality.
6. apply the concepts of group process, structure and leadership, and the concepts derived from them, and use them to plan, implement, review and evaluate group experiences.
7. apply group techniques and use and sequence them when planning a group activity, adapting them to the objectives to be achieved with that group and to the moment of group development in which the group is.
8. recognize the peculiarities of cooperative group work and can analyze the cooperative experiences in which he/she participates.
9. can make group decisions and can analyze group decisions in which he/she participates.
10. the student has reviewed his own ideas about groups and has constructed his own conceptual scheme about groups, taking into account the perspectives of Social Psychology and Social Work.

Didactic unit 4. Leadership.
Didactic unit 5. Some aspects of group life.
Didactic unit 6. Introduction to Social Work with Groups: History, concept and objectives.
Didactic unit 7. Types of groups in Social Work: Socio-educational, socio-therapeutic, social action, mutual aid and self-help groups. Work teams.
Didactic unit 8. Design and management of work groups: Intervention methodology. Group dynamics. Techniques of intervention and documentation
4. Academic activities
Since it is a subject shared by two areas of knowledge, the faculty of both parts will initially determine the specific calendar will be determined by the teachers of both parties.
Common activities
- Master class (30 hours), in a large group, two hours per week, during the entire four-month period.
- Problem solving and case studies (15 hours) and assignments (15 hours): in small groups, two hours per week, during the entire four-month period.
- Study: 80 hours. Self-employment
- Assessment tests: 10 hours. Written tests may be considered for each of the parts
5. Assessment system
This subject is taught from two areas of knowledge and the evaluation is distributed proportionally, being necessary to obtain at least a 5 in each one of the evaluation tests.
Theory: Theoretical-practical individual written test of short and/or essay questions. The criteria for evaluation are: mastery of content, use of terminology, accuracy of concepts, justification of arguments. It accounts for 60% of the total grade. For the assisting students, the faculty may choose to develop activities during the theoretical classes to ensure the proper monitoring and use of these, at beginning of the course will indicate the weight of each of them. In the latter case, it is necessary to perform 80% of such activities.
Practical activities: Participation in testing situations and other activities (such as individual or group presentations, research activities, literature review, case studies, role-playing, etc.). It will have a value of 40% being necessary to attend 80% of the activities.
